Watford v Chelsea paused as paramedics treated a woman who collapsed at half-time on Tuesday.

The 41-year-old Jennifer Byrd was taken to a local hospital on Tuesday night and stretchered off the pitch after becoming distressed and being carried from the away fans area at Vicarage Road. Her mobile phone video showed her running onto the pitch in front of the home supporters with two club stewards wrestling her to the ground.

Watford’s official Twitter account said earlier on Tuesday: “An incident involving a woman has affected half-time proceedings, with the club’s medical staff attending the stadium in an attempt to get to the woman as soon as possible.

“Two ambulances attended the stadium to treat the woman, and the game has now resumed.”
